Garden Party 2008
Despite a heavy downpour whilst setting up, the rain stayed away for our biggest event of the year, the 'SHARE Garden Party,' which took place on the 12th June.
This year's 'safari themed' Party was embraced by staff and students who wore safari outfits and hats.
Once again, we are hugely grateful to K.C. Patel of Patel Brothers in Tooting and a group of his friends for their tremendous generosity in not only providing the food and drinks but also one of our top raffle prizes, an iPod. We also would like to thank the ladies of the Khalsa Centre who again rose at the crack of dawn to cook the delicious food. Tooting MP, Sadiq Khan, one of the speakers on the day, emphasized how important it is to feel part of a community. We are certainly very lucky to work within such a generous community.
Chief Executive, Annie McDowall, 'We have been humbled and delighted by the generosity of K.C. Patel and his friends for providing the food and drink for this event and many of the excellent raffle prizes. We cannot thank our friends enough. They show us what community is all about.'
More than 200 guests attended the event and many commented on how beautiful the garden was looking, thanks to Jenny, Marie, Dougie and the students. There was plenty to see and do, and Adrian, as always, got everyone in the party spirit by belting a selection of hits to get everyone dancing.
The highlight of the day, the Prize Draw, managed to raise over £1000 thanks to some fantastic prizes including the top prize of £200 worth of holiday vouchers kindly donated by Steak Media.
And so the end of another Garden Party, and the clearing up began! Thanks to all the staff, students and guests who worked together to make this such a special day. We'll see you all again next year...
