Extra activities
SHARE also provides a range of activities that reinforce the skills training or help to enhance the quality of life for the individual student.
Below is a list of activities which we offer periodically. We are constantly looking to develop the activities we offer as we believe that it is important to adapt to what students want.
What we offer
Yoga
There is a weekly yoga session for all students to join in on if they want. Our yoga teacher uses a range of yoga practices that aim to improve joint mobility; and massage all the organs of the body, whilst teaching students breathing and relaxation techniques.
Healthy Eating
The Cook and Eat group focuses on independent living and health cooking and eating options for all our students. Students learn how to make healthy meals on a limited budget which they can put into practice in their own home.
Salsa
A weekly salsa session. Our experienced salsa teacher can teach at all levels. Salsa has a huge amount of benefits and helps students to build stamina, flexibility and co-ordination. It also improves the circulation and increases the performance ability of the hearts and lungs.
Community Outings and Events
Throughout the year, SHARE holds a number of student outings and events. For example our Annual Summer Garden Party at our garden in the grounds of Springfield Hospital and our Awards Ceremony.
A number of arts and crafts workshops and visits to museums are held throughout the year.
