You will be responsible for supporting our Head Chef in the kitchen. Lunch is served daily between 1pm – 2pm by the Head Chef and his team, for to up to 40 people.  You’ll start work at 2pm, and will be responsible for cleaning down after the lunch service, and after the 3pm tea break. You’ll need to ensure the kitchen and dining areas are maintained with regards to hygiene and safety. You must be able to use your own initiative and be able to work independently, or with a small group of catering students, who will all have varying support needs.

Job Description:

The Kitchen Cleaner will:

  • Clean and maintain the kitchen and dining areas after the daily lunch service and the 3pm tea break
  • Work independently to the highest possible standards
  • Maintain excellent health and safety standards within the kitchen
  • Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and professionalism
  • Collect and wash catering equipment, including pots, pans, plates and utensils
  • Wash down tables, sweep and mop floors, and load and unload the dishwasher
  • Report any maintenance issues, incidents, breakages or damages to the Head Chef
  • Keep the storeroom organised and tidy
  • Manage kitchen waste and recycling, emptying bins at the end of your shift
  • Help put away deliveries
  • Undertake any other tasks as may be reasonably required

Person Specification:

The successful candidate for this role will:

  • Have at least one year's experience of cleaning a professional kitchen and dining area
  • Have a Level 1 Food Safety Certificate
  • Be able to work quickly and efficiently, without supervision
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of health and safety, food hygiene and COSHH requirements
  • Be friendly, polite, enthusiastic and flexible
  • Have good customer service skills
  • Pay close attention to detail
  • Be reliable and come to work on time
  • Have good communication skills
  • Have a good understanding of stock control/rotation
