The role

This post is responsible for driving and embedding the use of digital technology across the whole organisation. You'll champion and co-ordinate the use of adaptive and assistive technology, to help disabled adults to learn and communicate effectively, in a way that meets their needs. You'll manage our Immersive Learning Space, and deliver regular training to staff and students on new and exciting technology. As well as managing and teaching on the Digital Skills project, you'll also take a lead in developing creative and interactive content for Share's training projects.

About us

At Share, we're passionate about supporting disabled people to set their own goals for learning and life, and then helping them to achieve their aspirations. The majority of our students are people with learning disabilities and/or autism. We offer a range of training, employment, personal development, and leisure opportunities. We're in an exciting phase of our development as we continue to modernise our training programmes, and develop robust pathways into independent living and employment for people with learning disabilities and autism. Digital inclusion is central to our strategy, and we're determined that our students should have every opportunity to use technology to communicate, understand the world, develop skills, have fun, be creative, and live more independently.

Main Responsibilities

  • Using our digital strategy to drive and embed the use of digital technology across the whole organisation, and to provide regular reports for the management team around how we are meeting the objectives of our digital strategy.
  • To manage, oversee and develop content for our Immersive Learning Space (ILS). This includes training others in how to use it, helping staff to produce content and liaising with the provider and developers as required.
  • To champion and co-ordinate the use of tablets, adaptive and assistive technology, and other equipment across the organisation to help disabled adults to learn and communicate effectively, encouraging independence, in a way that meets individual needs.
  • Delivering regular training and provide on-going support to Share's students, staff and volunteers around how to use new and exciting technology, that will transform people's lives.
  • Taking a lead on developing creative, interactive, relevant and challenging content for the digital skills project, as well as other projects at Share.
  • To oversee the Digital Skills project and to deliver training in the project at least once a week, or in periods of staff leave. Ensuring that the digital skills project meets its targets in terms of student qualification achievement and progression – fulfilling relevant assessor responsibilities where required.
  • To line manage the Digital Skills Trainer – ensuring regular supervision, annual appraisals and coaching is provided.
  • To take overall responsibility for the management of our iPads, ensuring they are fit for purpose, stored securely, charged, and maintained on a day to day basis.
  • To support the ICT infrastructure at Share through providing onsite support for minor ICT issues.
  • To lead on Share's membership of the Ian Karten Network of technology centres, as well as other networks and forums. Attending events to raise Share's profile and promote the work that we do to external professionals.
  • To work as part of a team to ensure that students receive an all-round service that meets their needs. This includes working closely with the Head of Training and the Wellbeing Manager, and acting as back-up and relief supervisor to other projects, such as Independent Living, on occasion.
  • To attend and participate in regular meetings and internal and external events as required by the organisation.
  • To undertake any other tasks that may be reasonably required.
