The role

We are looking for two Project Support Workers who will work across our training courses at Share, supporting our students to achieve their goals and providing delivery support to our tutors. Within training sessions or on outings outside of Share, you’ll provide 1-1 support to students where needed to ensure full inclusivity and enjoyment by everyone. You will also provide some basic administration support.

Who we are looking for

Our ideal candidate would have some experience of working within a social care or teaching assistant role, and have a strong commitment to the inclusion of disabled people. You’ll need to be an energetic people person, be able to follow instructions whilst being able to use your initiative to problem solve and think on your feet.

About us

At Share, we’re passionate about supporting disabled people to set their own goals for learning and life, and then helping them to achieve their aspirations. Most of our students are people with learning disabilities and/or autism. We offer a range of training, employment, personal development, and leisure opportunities. Enabling people to be more independent and self-directed, able to make informed choices, healthier and more resilient, and fully socially included is at the heart of our work.  Our programmes reflect modern needs and focus on digital skills, health and wellbeing, and developing robust pathways into independent living and employment. Most of our training programmes lead to nationally recognised qualifications.  We use the Outcomes Star to help people to set goals for learning and life, and to track their achievements.

We believe that everyone has something of value to offer others, and we focus and build on people’s abilities and interests.  Our students thrive in a positive and affirming environment. We support and encourage people to speak up about what’s important to them, make connections with other services and organisations, increase understanding of the world, get more involved in community life, and understand their responsibilities.

Job Description

  • Work flexibily to provide support within our Independent Living and/or Digital Skills classes. You may also be required to support our Basic Skills, Horticulture and Catering programmes on occasion.
  • Support the running of outings that occur outside of Share’s training centre, to ensure they run smoothly and students are safe
  • Provide one to one support for students who may have more complex needs, supporting them to take part in the lesson and meet their learning goals
  • Work closely with staff to ensure that students individual goals are being achieved
  • Provide a small amount of administration support such as preparing class materials, data inputting, emailing or photocopying
  • Support the Wellbeing team with providing pastoral support to students as and when required
  • Occasionally step in to deliver sessions in the absence of the tutor
  • Attend and take part in staff meetings and occasional organisational events during the evenings, or at weekends
  • Undertake any other tasks as may be reasonably required
