Share Annual Awards 2019

Share Awards Day 2019

Our Annual Awards Day took place on Tuesday 5th November at the Wandsworth Civic Suite. As always it was a joyful celebration of everything our students have achieved over the past year. The Awards are also a great opportunity to thank those that support us especially our valued volunteers.

We were honoured to be joined by Cllr Jane Cooper, the Mayor of Wandsworth and Marsha de Cordova, MP for Battersea and Shadow Minister for Disabled People, who helped us present certificates to our students and volunteers.

As well as certificates for accredited training we were delighted to present awards for outstanding achievement to some of our students for the huge steps they’ve taken in developing skills, building confidence, and their tremendous enthusiasm and determination.

The Jablonski Award for Perseverance and Outstanding Achievement in the Face of Adversity, presented each year in memory of Peter Jablonski, a former manager at Share, was this year given to two students:

  • Peter Kerr who began a volunteering position at Trinity Hospice Head Office at a time of great change in his life. The team there have been hugely impressed with the dedication and speed at which Peter was able to independently take on the data inputting. He has since increased his volunteering to twice a week and taken the lead on a new mini project.
  • Cally MacDonald who has shown great resilience managing numerous changes around her and in the process produced beautiful artwork, created new relationships and expressed her feelings well to those around her.

A highlight of the event was an interactive dance session by Movement Works, an organisation that provides educational dance and movement experiences and supports us at Share with regular classes for our students.

Once again we all tucked into a fabulous lunch prepared by Share Catering. On display were beautifully designed bags and t-shirts made in our arts and crafts classes and a lovely array of plants and wreaths from Share Nurseries were available to buy.
