Share celebrates Black History Month

Research by Share students for Black History Month

In October we marked Black History Month by celebrating the achievements and contributions made by black men and women to our society.

Students researched black poets, and our health and wellbeing group learnt about notable black healthcare professionals in history, creating a striking display board to show their work. The catering team cooked up a storm, with students choosing and preparing their favourite dishes from Caribbean, African and Asian cuisines while listening to music from each area in the canteen.

We also played flag bingo to learn about different countries and cultures. And our Go Anywhere, Do Anything social inclusion group went to see a performance by Cassa Pancho’s company of black and Asian classical ballet dancers at the Royal Opera House.

We celebrate diversity all the time and black history is more than just a month to us, so we’re working to bring these elements into our teaching all year round.
