At Share, we are working for a world where disabled people are fully included and have access to all the amenities and opportunities in their communities. We exist to help adults with learning disabilities, autism, sensory impairments, physical disabilities, and mental health needs become more independent, develop the skills to create their own paths and realise their ambitions.

We continue to tackle inequalities that exist for disabled people in health, employment, accessing services, and taking part in leisure activities. We aim to foster sustainable positive change so that society better recognises the contribution and value that those with disabilities can, and do make.

We have a strong reputation for putting the needs of our students first, and despite the challenges of the pandemic, this year has been no exception. Following a period of reflection and learning, some key themes and priorities have emerged. Growing the scale of our work, getting the very best out of our social enterprises, embracing more digital opportunities and diversifying our income streams will all be critical factors in ensuring that Share continues to thrive.

We are now looking for an inspirational leader to take us on the next stage of our exciting journey.

Our next Chief Executive will work with the Senior Management Team and the Board of Trustees to shape our future plans, delivering sustainable growth and quality for our business model. The ability to engage our staff, external partners, the people we support in these plans and our wider community is critical to success.

You will be a strategic leader in a relevant people-focused organisation, passionate about championing the social and economic inclusion of disabled people. Whilst lived experience of disability is not essential, an empathy and willingness to learn about Share and the people we serve is an absolute must.

You will have a track record of working with a wide range of stakeholders, developing effective networks and partnerships to enable you to work with the Board, staff, students, current and future partners and beyond. Commercial acumen and an understanding of fundraising will be essential. The capability to apply these with an attitude to risk that gives momentum to retaining and developing new business is a key component.

In addition, you will be a confident ambassador, able to represent Share with confidence and gravitas, but also able to delegate and enable others to grow and develop these skills so that they too, can represent Share.

This is an exciting role with real scope and challenge. It requires a compelling, resilient and committed leader with a values base that aligns with our own. You have to feel the passion we do for the people we serve, and have a clear understanding of how greater diversity can make Share (and the community we serve) stronger.

We welcome applications from people with a broad range of backgrounds and from all sections of the community. All disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria will be invited to interview for this post.
