We run an Arts and Crafts session for adults with disabilities. Within this role you will be working closely with our students on a range of different activities such as sewing, painting, designing t-shirts, making greeting cards, jewellery and much much more. The work focuses on developing students skills and attention to detail, as well as acting a theraputic space. This session is run by our Arts and Crafts tutor, Diana. Your main responsibilities as a volunteer will be to develop relationships with students to support and tap in to their artistic abilities. You’ll monitor student progression during sessions and promote inspirational thinking. You’ll support students to achieve their full potential, and increase self-confidence in their abilities to create and enjoy art and crafts. You’ll working with each student in a personalised way which reflects their level of understanding whilst broadening their knowledge base and craft skills
Our ideal volunteer would you have a love of arts and crafts and some experience of supporting people in an inclusive way. Our ideal volunteer would have good communication skills, they’d be warm, patient and friendly, and willing to go the extra mile to help people. They’d be punctual, reliable and have a strong commitment to the inclusion of disabled people in all aspects of life.
