Monday’s, Wednesday’s, Thursday’s and Friday’s 10am – 4pm, Tuesday’s 11am – 4pm 1 hour unpaid lunch break. Flexible and up to 6 weeks a year – cover for staff annual leave

Share offers a range of training, education, employment and personal development opportunities to help people with disabilities to progress towards their personal and career goals and aspirations.  Share’s catering course is taught to people who would like to gain a recognised qualification in catering as well as those who simply want to become more self-sufficient. As part of the course, students are taught how to prepare simple dishes while learning key skills such as: Basics of preparing and cooking food Knife skills, Food hygiene, Personal hygiene, Healthy eating and Kitchen cleanliness. Share’s catering kitchen is a 5-star registered centre for CIEH Level 2 training. You can watch a video about the course here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8RrGaOAQ4k. Most people who come to Share have learning disabilities, and more than 25% of those also have autism.

Main responsibilities

  1. To provide training for adults in the Basic Food & Hygiene up to Level 2.
  2. To supervise students working in the catering project with regards to the co-ordination and preparation of the daily lunch and tea breaks for Share’s student body.
  3. To supervise students working in the catering project and maintain health and safety, and organisations procedures and guidelines for working with students. Ensure you follow relevant Share policies which will be shared with you.
  4. To monitor and record student’s attendance and progression whilst providing cover and communicate to the Head of Training.
  5. To collect any written or photographic evidence of students work for addition to their portfolio. This is achieved through their workbooks and use of an iPad.
  6. To work as part of a team with the Assistant Chef, Head of Operations and Head of Training.

Essential skills and experience

  1. The proven ability and experience of delivering training in Catering and Food Hygiene.
  2. Experience of working with adults who have some form of learning disability and/or autism.
  3. Proven occupational competence in Catering and experience of working in professional catering.
  4. Knowledge of current best practice in Catering.
  5. The ability to motivate and empathise with disabled people and those facing long term health problems.
  6. The proven ability to explain tasks and procedures clearly and simply.
