Since 2015, Disability Sports Coach (DSC) has been delivering a range of sports and physical activity sessions twice a week at Share. And on 12th June, DSC delivered its 200th sports session for Share students. This represents an amazing 400 hours or 24,000 minutes of improving our students' wellbeing and helping them to get fitter.
Activities include boccia, Zumba and, weather permitting, going for walks to take in some fresh air and venturing over to the local outdoor gym in Clapham Common.
Hugh Elsegood, DSC's Sport & Physical Activity Manager said: "All our coaches speak fondly of the sport and physical activity sessions they deliver at Share. They are met with a warm welcome and the classes are always well supported with enthusiastic participants. The standard of boccia on Mondays has improved significantly while the Friday Zumba classes provide a great work out in a really fun and inclusive environment."
Jenny Bourlet, Share's Healthy Living Coordinator commented: "It's been great running the sports sessions with Disability Sport Coach who adapt the activities to ensure everyone can get involved. Our students really enjoy them and it's a fun way to get fit."
