Partnership with Wandsworth Libraries and Heritage Service and The National Archives

Students looking at historical documents

Share is taking part in a series of workshops over 5 weeks entitled “This is Our Park”. This exciting project brings together historical documents from both The National Archives and Wandsworth Libraries and Heritage Service to show how parks have been presented through the years. As part of the project, students have visited their local libraries across the borough and taken part in workshops at both the Wandsworth Heritage Service and The National Archives. Through the medium of art, they’ve created their own park designs inspired by both the historical documents and visits to their local outdoor spaces.

Our students have been visiting nearby parks including Wandsworth Park and Tooting Common enjoying peaceful walks and learning about local plant and bee species. They’ve also made collages inspired by archive material about Clapham Common with more to come!

The project culminates in a special exhibition at Putney Library from 5-18 October.

The students attending the workshops are all part of our 'My Community and Me' group who are learning about local activities, services and facilities. A key part of this involves meeting people and making connections within the community.
