We feel it’s about time we launched dedicated social media accounts for Share Nurseries, our social enterprise selling a wide range of plants, seasonal creations such as wreaths and hanging baskets, and garden sundries. We’ve been active for many years at our horticulture site based in a 2.5 acre garden in the grounds of Springfield Hospital in Tooting.
We have strong links in the local area and want to be more involved and connect more with our local communities in Tooting, Earlsfield and Balham. We’ve been tweeting and posting about life at the garden on our main Share social media accounts for a while but now we’re so excited to launch dedicated Share Nurseries accounts. Follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram (all @sharenurseries) for the latest from the garden, including plants for sale, offers, gardening tips, updates on our education work, news and views and more.
Alongside our social enterprise, our horticultural programme offers training and qualifications to support adults with learning disabilities, autism, physical/sensory impairments and mental health needs. All students who achieve the required standards are given the opportunity to work in Share Nurseries. As well as gardening skills, this gives them a pathway into work-related activities and teaches them valuable employability skills, such as customer service and quality control.
Income generated from Share Nurseries helps us invest in our students’ futures and enables them to build self-esteem and move closer to independence.
