Earlier this month, Share's CEO, Annie McDowall, and Aaron Barbour, Director of the Katherine Low Settlement, co-chaired Wandsworth’s first ever voluntary sector conference – Looking Forward Together – to bring together voluntary groups within the borough to talk about getting stronger together.
Over 120 people attended the event, and the workshops were buzzing. We had excellent speakers, including Karl Wilding of the NCVO and Wai Chan of the Wimbledon Foundation. This was an opportunity for delegates to think about making their organisations stronger and more resilient.
Workshops included how to get and keep brilliant volunteers – led by Share's People and Projects Manager, Leanne Wood – as well as good governance, what commissioners are looking for and how to make successful funding applications.
The event also provided an opportunity for Share's catering students to show off their talents by preparing the lunch for participants.
