Our story
Share has a long history of supporting disabled adults to learn catering skills, and we provide accredited training to help our students move towards employment. Many have developed excellent catering skills as well as becoming more confident and improving their general wellbeing.
In 2022 we partnered with the Black Prince Trust who run an inclusive community hub in Vauxhall focused on creating accessible opportunities for local residents to take part in physical activity, health and wellbeing focused programmes, and education and training towards employment.
With the support of funding from the London Borough of Lambeth, we refitted the community café at the Black Prince Community Hub and set up a new catering facility. Initially, we started running a community meals project, providing free meals to local residents in need, which continues to this day.
In early 2024, we began providing catering services to organisations, businesses and community groups, providing selections of hot and cold buffet style food for meetings and events. Our catering students put their skills to good use, working alongside our chefs to prepare, cook, package up and deliver food. As well as improving their catering and customer service skills by gaining real-life work experience, our students build on their social skills and gain a sense of pride and achievement.
We also serve a range of coffee and cakes to the public at the light and airy Share Community Café.
