The Share Community Café provides on-the-job training in catering and hospitality to adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs. We serve affordable barista-quality coffee and delicious snacks and home-made cakes at our café at the Black Prince Community Hub in Kennington.

Commitment to sustainability

We provide dairy alternatives and we take care to source ethical ingredients. We’re dedicated to reducing food waste, using surplus food from charitable food redistributors where possible and we've set up our own compost bins onsite. And we even have a mini garden outside the café, growing herbs and vegetables to use in our dishes.

Our story

Share has a long history of supporting disabled adults to learn catering skills, and we provide accredited training to help our students move towards employment. Many have developed excellent catering skills as well as becoming more confident and improving their general wellbeing.

In 2022 we partnered with the Black Prince Trust who run an inclusive community hub in Vauxhall focused on creating accessible opportunities for local residents to take part in physical activity, health and wellbeing focused programmes, and education and training towards employment.

With the support of funding from the London Borough of Lambeth, we refitted the community café at the Black Prince Community Hub and set up a new catering facility. Initially, we started running a community meals project, providing free meals to local residents in need, which continues to this day.

In April 2024, we opened the café to the public, providing hot and cold drinks, cakes and snacks all freshly prepared and baked onsite. Our students learn to master the art of barista-level coffee making and catering and learn valuable employability skills such as serving customers and handling payments. Not only does this help them develop practical work skills, it also nurtures their personal growth and emotional wellbeing. We see first hand our students' deepening independence, improved communication and social skills, and well-deserved pride in their accomplishments.

We also provide catering services for meetings and events.
