Mindworks bring a little drama to Share

Mindworks Drama session

Students studying Independent Living Skills at Share have been taking part in a six-week programme of drama-led sessions designed to encourage and empower our students to express their interests and views.

As part of the programme delivered by Mindworks, a charity that provides psychological services, our students chose 'summer' as their theme and with the help of a specialist tutor decided exactly what they wanted to act out and perform.

Our students chose a beach party theme set in Brighton with a picnic and a singalong. Each week they practised and rehearsed different parts of the performance, which included some physical dramatisations as well as singalong showstoppers such as 'Rock DJ' by Robbie Williams and 'Summer Holiday' by Cliff Richard. As part of this work, our students learned about the use of props, timing, direction and other drama-related ideas and concepts.

The programme culminated in a student performance in front of a packed audience of peers, friends, volunteers and staff to much critical acclaim.

A big thank you to the Mindworks team for their help in putting together a fun and creative programme for Share students.
