We're excited to share with you updates of recent employment success for our Steps into Employment students, who have been working really hard over the past year.

Last month we hosted our first ever supper club at the Share Community Café, complete with comedy sketch entertainment, and we attended the opening of a living wall that our garden students helped create. Plus, student Georgia is running the TCS London Marathon MyWay and raising money for Share! Read on to find out more.

Daniel has a new job

We're chuffed to bits for Share student Daniel who recently secured his dream job working in a record shop in Brixton!

Daniel has been a student on our Steps into Employment programme, through which we've been working with our friends at Status Employment. His passion for music and hard work have paid off and after a successful internship he's been offered a paid role.

More employment success as six Share students secure paid roles at the Wimbledon Championships

We've been working with the Wimbledon Foundation as part of their 'Work at Wimbledon' initiative that offers supported pathways into employment. A group of our students first visited the championships last year to get to know the site and see what happens during the tournament. Since then they've attended workshops, interviews and other sessions giving them valuable experience of applying for jobs.

And now Charlotte, Anna-Marie, Michael, Chloe, Shammah and Joseph have successfully secured paid roles for the championships this year, working in retail and guest services.

Good luck Georgia for the TCS London Marathon MyWay!

We'd like to wish Share student Georgia the absolute best of luck for the TCS London Marathon MyWay later this month. She's running alongside two friends from her running club, Wimbledon Windmilers. And she's raising money for Share!

Georgia said she's running the marathon because, 'I like running, no, not like, I LOVE running! And I want to do it for Share Community...it's the second marathon I'm doing and it's the next step. It's something that you do, that you like to do, and something you can do with friends.'

Georgia's tip for anyone else running is, 'Do it how you like to do it and be proud of your time!'

Horticulture students celebrate living wall created in Tooting

We recently attended a celebration to mark a new 'living wall' in Tooting Bec, part of the 'Greening Up Tooting' project. With funding from Hubbub, the project has worked side by side with our horticulture students to learn about and grow plants that thrive in an urban environment.

Joe, Daniel, Peter, Alex and Farraz came to the event with our friends from Hubbub, Living Communities CIC, and neighbouring business Taking Care of Fitness. Student Joe said, 'Thinking about the living wall makes me think of going in a dream of living walls and greenery and clean air, because everybody wants to have less pollution in their cities, especially when they live in London!'

Our first ever supper club a big success!

Last month we hosted our first ever supper club at the Share Community Café in Vauxhall. Our students showcased their culinary and hospitality skills by cooking and serving a delicious three-course Italian-inspired meal for parents, carers, volunteers, fellow students and staff.

And our newly formed drama group 'The Fishcakes' put on a highly entertaining comedy skit show that had everyone laughing! We plan to host more events like these in the future so watch this space.

Make a regular donation to Share

You could make a big difference to our work with just a small monthly gift. We rely on donations to deliver the range and quality of services essential to support disabled adults to have more choice and independence.

Regular giving in this way is vital to help charities like Share. Guaranteed income from monthly givers means we can plan and invest in our services longer term, providing more programmes and support for disabled people and their families.
