Welcome to our latest newsletter, where we’re delighted to share some of the exciting things happening across Share. Over the past couple of months, students, staff and volunteers have been involved in inspiring creative projects, new community activities, and opportunities that continue to build confidence, connection, and independence.

Share students take part in London Borough of Culture music video

Our music students were chuffed to bits to take part in Sing to Thrive, a creative project organised by Welcome to Wandsworth as part of London Borough of Culture. Composer and vocalist Aga Serugo-Lugo transformed our immersive learning space into a recording studio, where students learned songs through call-and-response singing and created movements inspired by the lyrics. The experience was filmed as part of the music video for The Wandsworth Corner Shop, celebrating the diversity and community spirit of Wandsworth.

Volunteer story: Steve brings photography skills to Share students

Photography volunteer Steve has been helping students at Share Tooting develop creative skills, confidence, and a new way of looking at the world. Through regular sessions in the local park and the Share garden, students learn photography techniques while capturing nature, plants, and each other. Student Kerry Louise said, 'Steve’s a good teacher and I’ve learnt a lot of things from him about photography.' Steve says volunteering has also helped him reconnect with creativity and community after years caring for a parent with dementia.

New walking group at Share Tooting

We’re starting a new weekly walking group in Springfield Park thanks to support from the Springfield Spark Community Fund. Beginning on 19 May, the guided walks will take place every Tuesday at 3pm, starting from Toast Stores café. Staff, students and local community members will come together to enjoy gentle exercise, discover nature, and meet new people. The project aims to improve wellbeing, reduce social isolation, and create more community connections.
