Last month our art group took part in a fashion show as part of the Wandsworth Arts Fringe 2022. The event was a stellar success, showcasing the creativity and hard work of everyone involved in the project, and allowing our students to shine as artists in their own right. This collaboration with the Royal College of Art has been incredible and the joy at the event was plain to see. An exhibition took place alongside the event, at the Royal Academy of Dance in Battersea, displaying a range of striking portraits taken by photographer Esmé Moore, and assisted by Lucy Bilcock. The photos were shown alongside the hats, with a further section showing the 3D printed models students had made at an earlier workshop.

Share student Harold starts a new job
Although we feel sad when we say goodbye to people, we’re delighted when it means that someone is moving on to bigger and better things. Harold recently left Share because he secured a new job working at Asda.
He previously worked for a retail company before being made redundant due to the pandemic. Harold then worked with our job coach to update his CV and polish up his interview skills. He also attended a job club we ran collaboratively with Wandsworth’s WorkRight scheme and Choice Support. We’re delighted for Harold and wish him the very best of luck! We recorded a short video of Harold speaking to our Wellbeing Manager about his time at Share and getting his new job.

Sharing hopes and dreams for the future
Spectrum is a self-advocacy group open to all Share students. It's a safe and relaxed space for people to learn more about learning disabilities and autism, talk about the challenges they face, and celebrate their uniqueness. The sessions aim to empower those involved, supporting advocacy and putting our students at the heart of Share’s service development.
The group chose to film each other talking about their hopes and dreams for the future, and their recordings have been edited into this lovely short film.

Thank you to our friends and neighbours
It seems ages ago now, but we wanted to say a huge thank you to all our lovely neighbours who supported Share at the Jubilee street party on Altenburg Gardens last month. We were the lucky beneficiary of funds raised by a raffle, and received many donations and good wishes.
And we were also invited to another Jubilee street party in Balham, thanks to Chris, one of our trustees and a local resident there. We took along some gorgeous flowers and plants from the Share garden to sell that were all snapped up. We had a wonderful time and we sincerely appreciate the support and kindness shown by everyone at both events.

Party time in Tooting
We do love a party! It’s certainly been a busy month as we also took part in two local community events in Tooting recently. Despite a surprisingly windy day that meant holding onto our table display at times, we had a wonderful time at the Balham and Tooting Community Association (BATCA) fun day on Broadwater Road. It was lovely to be back at this event after a couple of years to see and speak to so many local people about the Share garden, and just have a general chin wag.
And thanks to our friends at Springfield University Hospital, we also joined in with the celebrations at their summer street party where our students ran a pop-up stall selling plants. Even Pudding, the therapy dog who regularly visits us came to see what was going on.

Make a regular donation to Share
You could make a big difference to our work with just a small monthly gift.
Just £5 per month means we can buy seeds for five students to create a salad garden as part of their horticulture course.
£10 a month pays for two students to create hygiene and safety portfolios as part of our catering course.
And £30 pays for the examination fees for an accredited course for one student.
Regular giving in this way is vital to help charities like Share. Guaranteed income from monthly givers means we can plan and invest in our services longer term, providing more training and support for disabled people and their families.
