Horticulture students enjoy another successful pop-up plant sale

Our Steps into Horticulture students have been putting their growing and customer service skills into practice with another successful pop-up plant sale in Springfield Village.

Held outside Moka Bay in Chapel Square, a short walk from the Share Garden, the sale was the third pop-up event the group has run in the past seven months, giving students valuable work experience.

They welcomed customers, answered questions, processed cash and card payments, and carefully bagged purchases, building their confidence and workplace skills. The friendly staff at Moka Bay were also on hand to support the sale, even taking home a few plants themselves.

All the flowers and vegetables were grown from seed by our students, and houseplants were propagated from cuttings as part of their learning.

The sale attracted lots of interest from passers-by, raising £40 in just over an hour and giving students an opportunity to gain hands-on retail experience in a real customer-facing environment.
