Sunshine, supper club and smiles!

Wednesday, 29 Jul 2026

There was a real summer atmosphere at our latest supper club, as students, families, carers, volunteers, and partners came together at the Share Community Café for an evening of delicious food, fun, and laughter.

We've been running our supper clubs since the start of last year, and each one is a chance for our Community Café students to showcase the catering and hospitality skills they've been working on. And they're an opportunity for everyone to spend time together and enjoy the welcoming community our students help to create.

With the heat, a summer BBQ was the obvious choice. Guests enjoyed a feast of jerk chicken, burgers, hot dogs, tofu steaks, corn on the cob, fresh salads, and plenty of tasty sides.

Before anyone even picked up a plate, Community Café student Paula had already achieved something pretty impressive: building the entire BBQ independently from a flatpack, no small feat for anyone who's ever tackled one!

Fellow students were also busy, with Zain serving a selection of refreshing mocktails, Ru on BBQ duty and Joe welcoming guests on the door.

A huge thank you also goes to our fantastic volunteers from Simmons & Simmons, Annie, Melita and Celestino, who worked alongside students throughout the evening, helping to serve food and drinks, clear tables, and keep everything running smoothly.

Our café is a space where students build confidence, gain hospitality experience, and welcome the wider community through the doors. Seeing it full of conversation, smiling faces, and people enjoying time together made for another memorable supper club.

We can't wait for the next one!
