We’ve got an exciting opportunity for a proactive and organised Volunteer and Community Services Coordinator to play a key role in the development of our volunteering and community projects at our Brixton site. You will work closely with the Satellite and Community Services Manager to ensure the smooth running of our Brixton-based provision, coordinating the day-to-day operations of Share’s satellite site. Alongside this, you’ll co-ordinate and manage Share’s volunteers who provide support across our projects, ensuring they have a really great experience with us.

Share is a registered charity and a centre for training and wellbeing. We provide a range of programmes helping adults with learning disabilities, autism and other support needs become more happy, healthy, and independent. Our vision is a world where disabled people are fully included in society, living the life they choose, and we need talented people to help us make that happen.

Volunteers are a vital part of our charity, helping us deliver a variety of services, including classes and training sessions, community-based activities, befriending, and buddyship. It’s important that volunteers at Share have a positive and rewarding experience, so you’ll need to make sure they feel supported and valued.

Main responsibilities

  • You’ll seek out opportunities and devise effective ways to recruit and retain new volunteers, building great relationships with organisations and community groups.
  • You’ll coordinate volunteer enquiries, interviews, onboarding, and ongoing training.
  • You’ll oversee the entire volunteer journey and make sure they’re nurtured and recognised for their contributions so that they’re motivated to keep volunteering with us.
  • You’ll work closely with the Satellite and Community Services Manager to coordinate the day-today operations of Share’s satellite centres.

About you

  • You’ve previously worked in a role where you’ve recruited and supported volunteers.
  • You’ve also previously organised and delivered events and/or training.
  • You’ve got experience of coordinating volunteers and projects, preferably in a community setting.
  • You’re highly organised and flexible, and you’re happy to adapt to changing situations and find creative solutions to get things done.
  • You really enjoy working in a people-facing role; you communicate well and you know how to motivate people.
  • Most importantly, you share our strong commitment to the inclusion of disabled people in society, and you believe in equality for all.
