Share awarded Investing in Volunteers quality standard

We’re incredibly proud to achieve the Investing in Volunteers quality mark for good practice in volunteer management. This demonstrates just how much we value our volunteers and gives them confidence in our ability to provide an outstanding volunteer experience.

We were assessed against six quality areas:

  1. Vision for Volunteering
  2. Planning for Volunteers
  3. Volunteer inclusion
  4. Recruiting and welcoming volunteers
  5. Supporting volunteers
  6. Valuing and developing volunteers

Our volunteers feel recognised and valued. Our assessor noted that ‘volunteers interviewed clearly articulated the difference they made, and the value volunteering brought to the organisation’, and also that our volunteers ‘praised the inclusive and welcoming approach the staff had’. One volunteer commented about Share, ‘They are genuinely kind and caring people, who do everything they can to make you feel at ease and welcome within Share whatever your role or background’.

We were also commended for our flexible approach with one volunteer commenting, ‘They understand you have other commitments; I was turned away by other organisations because I couldn’t volunteer every week, Share appreciates the time you can give, however large or small, and have lots of options depending on your availability.’

Volunteers are key to the delivery of our varied programmes supporting disabled people to live more independently. Achieving the Investing in Volunteers standard reflects the passion and hard work of all our volunteers and staff, and we're delighted to be recognised for our ongoing commitment to volunteering within the organisation.
